Irma Thomas: Soul Queen of New Orleans

Irma Thomas

Mardi Gras Records presents Irma Thomas - "Soul Queen of New Orleans"

Overshadowed by R&B vocalists Aretha Franklin and Etta James during her peak years in the 1960's, Irma Thomas has never really gotten the recognition that her talent deserves. Thomas "owned" New Orleans in the 60's - no small feat in a town famous for it's musical history. For a brief period during that decade she did hit the big time when her smash hit "I Wish Somone Would Care" hit the Billboard R&B and Pop Charts. Although she didn't share the national stage with Franklin and James for long, her talent has never waned and true fans of rhythm and blues music acknowledge Thomas as one of the all time greats. This collection of some of her favorites signifies why. Here is the "Soul Queen of New Orleans" from Southern Music Digital.
